A/n: Written for the rwhg_ldws Interim Competition 2, a missing moment from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
As Harry and Luna left the Room of Requirement, Hermione said uncertainly to Ron, “I guess we wait here until Harry sees the diadem.”
Ron nodded, then felt tapping on his shoulders from Fred and George.
“Could we talk to you for a minute, Ron?” Fred asked.
“In private?” George added, looking apologetically at Hermione.
Hermione nodded, and Ron followed the twins.
“In the loo?” Ron couldn’t believe Fred was serious.
“Well, where else are we going to find privacy?” George gestured around the room. Ron shrugged and followed his brothers into the bathroom.
Ron waited for Fred or George to speak. Fred finally did.
“Well, I know we’ve taken the mickey before . . .”
“It is our brotherly duty, after all. . .”
“But we’re serious now. We want to tell you . . .”
“Just in case something happens, what with you being the best mate of the Chosen One and helping to save the world and all . . .”
“We’re proud of you, Ron, and we love you.”
“Yeah. What Fred said.”
Ron stared, trying to discover what trick the twins were playing on him. Fred and George stared back, blushing profusely, and Ron realized they weren’t joking. Ron cleared his throat.
“I love you, too.” Fred and George grinned and grasped Ron in a three-way hug.
“Just a bit of advice, Ickle Ronnikins.” They broke the hug, but Fred kept his arm around Ron’s shoulders. “Everyone, except for you maybe, knows you are madly in love with Hermione. Tell her soon.” With one final squeeze, Fred let Ron go. It was now Ron’s turn to blush.
“You could tell her here! Bathrooms are great for private conversations, and other things you want to keep secret.” George winked at Ron.
Something clicked in Ron’s brain. “Secrets! The bathroom!” He yelled. “You both are brilliant!” Ron hugged his brothers again and ran out of the loo, shouting, “Hermione!”
“What was that about?”
George shrugged. “Merlin only knows. Anything else we should take care of before the battle?”
